Description
Overview of the medicine
Scabfre Cream contains Permethrin, an insecticide used to treat scabies and head lice. It works by paralyzing and killing mites and lice and their eggs.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a thin layer of cream from the head to the soles of the feet. Leave on for 8-14 hours, then wash off. One application is usually sufficient, but a second application may be needed after 7-14 days if living mites are still present.
Elderly
Same as adult dosage.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment needed as systemic absorption is minimal.
How to Take
For external use only. Apply to clean, dry skin. Do not apply to open wounds or mucous membranes.
Mechanism of Action
Permethrin acts on the neuron membrane by disrupting the sodium channel current, causing delayed repolarization and subsequent paralysis and death of the parasite.

Relief of itching within hours to days; parasiticidal action within hours.
Excretion
Metabolites are primarily excreted in urine.
Half life
Approximately 24-48 hours (systemically absorbed portion).
Absorption
Minimal systemic absorption (less than 2%) occurs after topical application.

Rapidly hydrolyzed by esterases to inactive metabolites.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to permethrin, other pyrethroids, or any component of the cream.
- •Infants under 2 months of age (for scabies treatment).

Storage
