Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose: 800 mg three times daily with meals. Adjust based on serum phosphorus levels (typically 800-1600 mg three times daily).
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment needed for elderly patients.

Used for renal impairment patients, dose adjusted based on phosphorus levels.
How to Take
Orally, taken with meals. Tablets should be swallowed whole, not crushed, chewed, or broken.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Ciprofloxacin
Decreased absorption of ciprofloxacin, administer at least 1 hour before or 3 hours after Sevelamer.
Levothyroxine
Reduced absorption, administer several hours apart.
Mycophenolate Mofetil
Reduced absorption, monitor drug levels.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
No specific antidote. Treatment should be supportive and symptomatic. Risk of hypophosphatemia.
