Description
Overview of the medicine
Sinaferon 200 mg Tablet is a synthetic interferon analog used to enhance the immune system and combat chronic viral infections by modulating cellular responses.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
One 200 mg tablet once daily, or as directed by a physician. Duration of treatment depends on the condition being treated and patient response.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment is generally required, but close monitoring for adverse effects is recommended.
Renal_impairment
In severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min), the dosage should be reduced to 100 mg daily or administered every other day, with careful monitoring.
How to Take
Sinaferon 200 mg Tablet should be taken orally, with or without food. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day to maintain consistent drug levels.
Mechanism of Action
Sinaferon binds to specific cellular receptors, activating intracellular signaling pathways that lead to the transcription of interferon-stimulated genes. This results in antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory effects, including inhibition of viral replication and enhancement of host immune responses.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Immunomodulatory and antiviral effects typically begin within 1-2 days of initiation of therapy.
Excretion
Excreted mainly through the urine (approximately 70%) and feces (approximately 30%).
Half life
Elimination half-life is approximately 8-12 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly and almost completely absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 1-3 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via proteolysis and other metabolic pathways.
