Description
Overview of the medicine
Singlin 1 mg Tablet contains Singlin, a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The recommended dose of Singlin is 1 mg once daily, taken orally with or without food.
Elderly
No dose adjustment is required based on age alone.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment is required for patients with any degree of renal impairment.
How to Take
Take Singlin 1 mg Tablet orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
Singlin selectively inhibits the enzyme DPP-4, which is responsible for the inactivation of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). By preventing their degradation, Singlin increases the levels of active incretin hormones, leading to enhanced glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppressed glucagon secretion, thus improving glycemic control.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Glycemic control improvement generally seen within the first few weeks of therapy.
Excretion
Primarily excreted via bile and feces; minor renal excretion.
Half life
Approximately 12-15 hours for effective DPP-4 inhibition.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration; peak plasma concentrations reached within 1 to 2 hours.
Metabolism
Minimally metabolized; primary elimination via unchanged excretion.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Singlin or any component of the tablet.
- Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
- Patients with diabetic ketoacidosis.
