Description
Overview of the medicine
Sugel 175 mg Suspension is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, thus killing the bacteria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual recommended dose is 175 mg (5 ml) orally twice daily for 7-14 days, depending on the severity and type of infection.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment is generally required, but caution should be exercised in patients with renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
For creatinine clearance <30 mL/min, the dose should be reduced to 175 mg (5 ml) once daily.
How to Take
Shake the bottle well before each use. Administer orally, preferably with a meal to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by the doctor, even if symptoms improve.
Mechanism of Action
The active ingredient in Sugel, Xylomoxifloxacin (fictional), belongs to the fluoroquinolone class. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes involved in bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.

Excretion
Excreted mainly via urine (approximately 50-60%) and feces (approximately 30-40%) within 24-48 hours.
Half life
Approximately 6-8 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly and well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract following oral administration. Peak plasma concentrations are reached within 1-2 hours.

Primarily metabolized in the liver to inactive metabolites.
