Sulforid 4 mg Tablet is an anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal and rheumatic conditions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
4 mg once daily, or 2 mg twice daily, with or after food.
Elderly
Start with 2 mg once daily, adjust based on response and tolerability.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment may be required; consult physician. Not recommended for severe renal impairment.
How to Take
Take orally with a glass of water, with or after food to minimize gastrointestinal upset.
Mechanism of Action
Sulforid acts by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX-2), which is responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins, mediators of pain and inflammation.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Known hypersensitivity to Sulforid or other NSAIDs.
- •History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.
- •Active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
- •Severe heart failure, renal failure, or hepatic failure.
- •Third trimester of pregnancy.
Drug Interactions
Lithium
Increased lithium plasma levels.
Corticosteroids
Increased risk of GI ulceration.
Diuretics/ACE inhibitors
Reduced hypotensive effect and increased risk of renal impairment.
Anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
Increased risk of bleeding.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Management involves supportive care and symptomatic treatment. Gastric lavage or activated charcoal may be considered within an hour of ingestion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy due to potential fetal harm. Use with caution during the first and second trimesters only if clearly needed. Avoid during lactation as it may pass into breast milk.
