Description
Overview of the medicine
Tysinor 150 mg tablet contains Neurozin Hydrochloride, a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) used to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and certain neuropathic pain conditions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 75 mg once daily, may be increased to 150 mg once daily based on response. Maximum 300 mg daily.
Elderly
Lower starting dose (e.g., 37.5 mg) with gradual titration, close monitoring for adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment required. For severe impairment, consider reducing dose by 50% or more.
How to Take
Take orally, once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or divide.
Mechanism of Action
Neurozin acts by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine in the central nervous system, thereby increasing the concentration of these neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft. This leads to an improvement in mood and a reduction in anxiety and pain.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Therapeutic effects typically observed within 1-2 weeks, full effect may take 4-6 weeks.
Excretion
Mainly excreted renally as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 10-15 hours for the active compound.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, peak plasma concentrations reached within 2-4 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 enzymes.
