Overview of the medicine
Urivent (Flavoxate Hydrochloride) is a urinary tract spasmolytic that helps relieve symptoms such as painful urination, urgency, and frequent urination associated with various inflammatory conditions of the urinary tract.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
200 mg three or four times a day.
Elderly
Same as adults, with caution. Dosage adjustments may be needed based on renal function.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution. Dosage adjustments may be required based on the degree of impairment.
How to Take
Take orally with water, preferably after meals to minimize gastrointestinal upset.
Mechanism of Action
Flavoxate acts by directly relaxing the smooth muscles of the urinary tract (bladder, ureter). It also possesses local anesthetic and analgesic properties which contribute to the symptomatic relief.
