Description
Overview of the medicine
Veagra 100 mg Tablet is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. It helps to relax the blood vessels in the penis, allowing blood to flow into the penis when a man is sexually stimulated. It should be taken approximately one hour before sexual activity.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Recommended starting dose is 50 mg taken approximately one hour before sexual activity. Dose may be increased to 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg based on efficacy and tolerability. Maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.
Elderly
Consider starting with 25 mg in patients >65 years due to reduced clearance.
Renal_impairment
For severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min), consider starting dose of 25 mg.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food, approximately one hour before sexual activity. Do not take more than once daily.
Mechanism of Action
Sildenafil is a selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). It enhances the effects of nitric oxide (NO) by inhibiting PDE5, which is responsible for cGMP degradation in the corpus cavernosum. This leads to increased cGMP levels, resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood into the penis, facilitating an erection.

- Concomitant use with nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate) due to risk of severe hypotension.
- Concomitant use with guanylate cyclase stimulators (e.g., riociguat).
- Hypersensitivity to Sildenafil or any component of the tablet.
- Severe cardiovascular disease, recent myocardial infarction or stroke.
