Description
Overview of the medicine
Vesodil 125 mg Tablet is an antihypertensive medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure and certain peripheral vascular conditions. It works by dilating blood vessels, which helps to improve blood flow and reduce the workload on the heart.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 125 mg once daily, adjusted based on response up to a maximum of 250 mg daily in divided doses. Taken with or without food.
Elderly
Start with a lower dose (e.g., 60 mg daily) and titrate carefully due to increased sensitivity and potential for adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
Dosage adjustment may be required; caution advised. For CrCl < 30 mL/min, consider reducing dose by 50%.
How to Take
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
Mechanism of Action
Vesodil acts as a direct-acting peripheral vasodilator, relaxing the smooth muscles of arterial resistance vessels. This leads to a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance, subsequently reducing blood pressure and improving blood flow to various tissues.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 30-60 minutes after oral administration.
Excretion
Mainly excreted via the kidneys (renal excretion) as metabolites, with a small portion unchanged.
Half life
Approximately 3-4 hours.
Absorption
Well absorbed orally, with bioavailability around 60-80%. Peak plasma concentrations are reached within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by oxidative pathways.

Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Vesodil or any component of the tablet.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include severe hypotension, tachycardia, dizziness, headache, flushing. Treatment involves symptomatic and supportive measures, including intravenous fluids and vasopressors if necessary.
