Winfax 125 mg Suspension contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used to treat various bacterial infections in children.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically for pediatric use. Adult dosage (tablet form) is usually 400 mg once daily.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment for elderly unless renal impairment is present. Monitor renal function.
Renal_impairment
Dosage adjustment is necessary based on creatinine clearance. For CrCl 21-60 mL/min: 75% of standard dose. For CrCl < 20 mL/min: 50% of standard dose.
How to Take
Administer orally, with or without food. Shake the bottle well before each use. Use the provided measuring spoon or cup for accurate dosing.

Cefixime exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.

Nifedipine

Carbamazepine

Warfarin and other anticoagulants
May increase the anticoagulant effect, requiring close monitoring of INR.
Storage
Store the dry powder below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. After reconstitution, store in a refrigerator (2-8°C) and discard after 7-14 days (check specific product label). Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.

In case of overdose, symptomatic and supportive treatment is recommended. Gastric lavage may be indicated. Hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis is not effective in removing cefixime.
