Description
Overview of the medicine
Xclor contains Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks, depending on indication.
Elderly
No dose adjustment generally required, but caution is advised.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment needed for mild to moderate impairment. For severe impairment, caution is advised.
How to Take
Should be taken at least one hour before a meal, swallowed whole with water. Do not chew or crush.
Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Esomeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or any component of the formulation.
- Concomitant use with nelfinavir.

Warfarin
Monitor INR; may increase bleeding risk.
Clopidogrel
May reduce the antiplatelet effect of clopidogrel.
Methotrexate
May increase methotrexate levels, requiring dose adjustment.

Symptoms include drowsiness, confusion, blurred vision, tachycardia, nausea, sweating, flushing, headache, dry mouth. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.
