Description
Overview of the medicine
Act 120 mg Suspension is an antipyretic and analgesic medication containing Paracetamol, used to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever in children.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
This 120 mg/5ml suspension is primarily for pediatric use. Adults typically use higher doses/forms (e.g., 500mg tablets).

How to Take
Administer orally. Shake the bottle well before use. Use a measuring spoon or oral syringe for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Paracetamol is thought to act primarily by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system, thereby exerting its analgesic and antipyretic effects. It has weak anti-inflammatory effects.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
30-60 minutes for analgesic/antipyretic effect.
Excretion
Excreted mainly in the urine as glucuronide and sulfate conjugates. Less than 5% is excreted unchanged.
Half life
1.5-3 hours in adults, slightly longer in neonates.
Absorption
Rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, with peak plasma concentrations occurring within 30-60 minutes.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via glucuronidation and sulfation. A small portion is metabolized by cytochrome P450 to a toxic intermediate (NAPQI), which is detoxified by glutathione.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol or any other component of the formulation.
- •Severe hepatic impairment.
Drug Interactions

Carbamazepine, Phenobarbital, Phenytoin
May increase the risk of hepatotoxicity with paracetamol.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not freeze.
