Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Not applicable for this pediatric formulation. Adult dose for Desloratadine is typically 5 mg once daily.

How to Take
Administer orally, with or without food. Use the provided calibrated dropper for accurate dosing. Shake the bottle well before each use.
Mechanism of Action
Desloratadine is a long-acting tricyclic H1-receptor antagonist. It is the major active metabolite of loratadine and acts by selectively antagonizing peripheral H1-histamine receptors, thereby inhibiting the effects of histamine which include vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, and itching.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 1 hour
Excretion
Excreted in urine (approximately 40%) and feces (approximately 45%) as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 27 hours
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration. Peak plasma concentrations are reached in approximately 3 hours.
Metabolism
Undergoes extensive metabolism, primarily to 3-hydroxydesloratadine, which is also active. Metabolism is primarily by cytochrome P450 enzymes, though the specific isoform involved is not fully identified.
