How to Take
Oral administration. Shake well before use. Can be taken with or without food. Complete the full course of medication.
Mechanism of Action
Cefazolin is a bactericidal antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to cell lysis and death.

Onset
Rapid, typically within 30 minutes to 1 hour after administration.
Excretion
Primarily via renal excretion (glomerular filtration and tubular secretion).
Half life
Approximately 1.8 hours.
Absorption
Well absorbed orally for pediatric formulations, though usually administered IV/IM in adults. Peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours after oral administration.
Metabolism
Minimally metabolized; primarily excreted unchanged.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to cefazolin, other cephalosporins, or penicillins.
- •History of severe allergic reaction to penicillin.
Drug Interactions

May increase cefazolin levels.
Anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
May enhance anticoagulant effect (rare).
Nephrotoxic drugs (e.g., Aminoglycosides)
May increase risk of nephrotoxicity.
Storage
Store dry powder at room temperature (below 30°C). Reconstituted suspension should be refrigerated (2-8°C) and discarded after specified days (e.g., 14 days).
