Overview of the medicine
Betasef 125 mg Suspension contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including those of the ear, nose, throat, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin. It works by preventing the growth of bacteria.
Uses & Indications

This suspension is primarily for pediatric use. For children, the usual dose is 8 mg/kg/day, given as a single dose or in two divided doses. For specific infections, dosage may vary. Maximum 400 mg/day.

Renal_impairment
For creatinine clearance < 60 mL/min, dosage adjustment may be required. For CrCl < 30 mL/min, total daily dose should not exceed 200 mg.
How to Take
Shake the bottle well before each use. Can be taken with or without food. Use a measuring spoon or oral syringe for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Cefixime exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, which are essential for the synthesis of the peptidoglycan layer of the bacterial cell wall. This inhibition leads to the disruption of the cell wall, causing bacterial cell lysis and death.
