Chearoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which is responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins, inflammatory mediators that cause pain and inflammation. By inhibiting COX-2, Chearoxib reduces prostaglandin production, thereby alleviating pain and inflammation.

Symptoms may include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain. Management involves symptomatic and supportive care. Gastric lavage and activated charcoal may be considered within the first hour of ingestion.

Avoid during the third trimester of pregnancy due to risk of premature closure of the ductus arteriosus. Use with caution during the first and second trimesters only if clearly needed and benefits outweigh risks. Not recommended during breastfeeding as it may pass into breast milk.
