Description
Overview of the medicine
Chear 100 mg Tablet contains Chearoxib, a potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, swelling, and stiffness caused by various conditions such as arthritis, musculoskeletal injuries, and menstrual cramps. It works by reducing inflammation in the body.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
100-200 mg once daily, or 50-100 mg twice daily with food. Maximum daily dose 200 mg.
Elderly
Start with lower doses (e.g., 50 mg twice daily) and monitor for adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution; dose reduction may be required based on creatinine clearance. Avoid in severe renal impairment.
How to Take
Take orally, preferably with food or milk to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Mechanism of Action
Chearoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which is responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins, inflammatory mediators that cause pain and inflammation. By inhibiting COX-2, Chearoxib reduces prostaglandin production, thereby alleviating pain and inflammation.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 30-60 minutes
Excretion
Excreted mainly via urine (approximately 70%) and feces (approximately 30%) as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 8-12 hours
Absorption
Rapidly and well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Peak plasma concentrations are achieved within 2-3 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP2C9 and CYP3A4)

Drug Interactions
Lithium
Increased plasma lithium levels, leading to toxicity
Warfarin
Increased risk of bleeding
Corticosteroids
Increased risk of gastrointestinal ulceration
ACE Inhibitors/Diuretics
Reduced antihypertensive effect and increased risk of renal impairment
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms may include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain. Management involves symptomatic and supportive care. Gastric lavage and activated charcoal may be considered within the first hour of ingestion.
