Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis: Apply to wet hair, lather, leave on for 3-5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Use twice weekly for 2-4 weeks, then once weekly or every other week as maintenance. For Pityriasis versicolor: Apply once daily for 5 days.
Elderly
Same as adults, no specific dose adjustment required.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment required due to minimal systemic absorption.
How to Take
Wet hair thoroughly. Apply a small amount of shampoo to the scalp and gently massage to produce a lather. Leave the shampoo on the scalp for 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with water. Avoid contact with eyes.

Ketoconazole inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol or other 1-demethylated sterols, which are essential components of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and leakage of cellular contents, ultimately resulting in fungal cell death.
