Dialon 3 mg tablet is an oral antidiabetic medication containing Gliclazide, used to lower blood glucose levels in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It belongs to the sulfonylurea class of drugs.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically initiated at a low dose, 3 mg once daily, usually with breakfast. Dosage may be gradually increased based on blood glucose levels and patient response. Maximum dose varies with formulation but generally does not exceed 120 mg daily.
Elderly
Lower initial doses and careful titration are recommended due to increased risk of hypoglycemia. Starting at 3 mg once daily and titrating cautiously.
Renal_impairment
Mild to moderate renal impairment may not require dosage adjustment. Severe renal impairment: use with caution and monitor closely; dosage reduction may be necessary or avoided.
How to Take
Take orally, usually once daily with breakfast. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Gliclazide stimulates insulin release from the pancreatic beta cells by binding to the sulfonylurea receptor (SUR1) on the cell membrane, leading to depolarization and calcium influx, which triggers insulin secretion.
