Description
Overview of the medicine
Esogut 5 mg Pediatric Drop contains Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, used to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is specifically formulated for pediatric use to treat acid-related conditions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Not applicable for pediatric drop formulation; adult dosing is typically 20-40 mg daily.
Elderly
Not applicable for pediatric drop formulation.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment needed for mild to moderate renal impairment. Caution with severe impairment.
How to Take
Administer orally, usually 30-60 minutes before a meal. The drop can be mixed with a small amount of water, apple juice, or soft food (e.g., applesauce) immediately before administration. Do not chew or crush.
Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that specifically inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in the gastric parietal cells. This irreversible inhibition blocks the final step in acid secretion, leading to a sustained reduction in gastric acid production.
