Fenobac 5 mg Tablet is an anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with various conditions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual adult dose is 5 mg once or twice daily, or as prescribed by a physician. Doses should be taken preferably with food.
Elderly
Elderly patients may require a lower starting dose due to increased risk of adverse effects. Close monitoring of renal function is recommended.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment is necessary in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment. Consult physician for specific dosage guidance or consider alternative treatments.
How to Take
Fenobac 5 mg Tablet should be taken orally, preferably with food or milk to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Mechanism of Action
Fenobac inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins. By reducing prostaglandin production, it diminishes inflammation, pain, and fever.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
The analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects typically begin within 30 to 60 minutes after administration.
Excretion
The drug and its metabolites are predominantly excreted via the kidneys (urine), with a minor portion excreted through bile.
Half life
The elimination half-life of Fenobac ranges from 6 to 8 hours.
Absorption
Fenobac is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract following oral administration. Peak plasma concentrations are usually achieved within 1 to 2 hours.
Metabolism
Fenobac is primarily metabolized in the liver, mainly by cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, into inactive metabolites.

ACE Inhibitors/ARBs
Reduced antihypertensive effect and increased risk of renal dysfunction, especially in elderly or dehydrated patients.
Diuretics (e.g., Furosemide)
Reduced diuretic and antihypertensive effects, increased risk of renal impairment.
Anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
Increased risk of bleeding. Close monitoring of INR is required.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: Use of NSAIDs, including Fenobac, during the third trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated due to the risk of premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus.
