Flucloxacillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to cell lysis and bacterial death. It is resistant to degradation by beta-lactamase (penicillinase) enzymes produced by some bacteria.

Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and electrolyte imbalance. In rare cases, neurological toxicity (e.g., convulsions) may occur, especially in patients with impaired renal function. Treatment is largely supportive; hemodialysis may be considered in severe cases with renal failure.

Pregnancy category B. Generally considered safe during pregnancy, but use only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk in small amounts; generally considered compatible with breastfeeding, but monitor infant for potential adverse effects (e.g., diarrhea, candidiasis).
