Fulspec 1 gm injection is typically reconstituted with sterile water for injection or other compatible diluents. It is then administered by deep intramuscular (IM) injection or by intravenous (IV) infusion over 30 minutes.

Cefepime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. It has a high affinity for PBPs and stability against beta-lactamases.

• •Hypersensitivity to cefepime or any other cephalosporin antibiotics.
• •Immediate-type hypersensitivity reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis, severe skin reaction) to any beta-lactam antibiotic (e.g., penicillins, carbapenems).

Store intact vials at controlled room temperature (20-25°C) and protect from light. Reconstituted solutions should be used immediately or stored as per manufacturer's guidelines.

In case of overdose, symptoms may include encephalopathy (e.g., confusion, hallucinations, stupor, coma), myoclonus, and seizures. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Hemodialysis may be useful in removing cefepime from the system.

Pregnancy Category B. Studies in animals have not shown harm to the fetus. However, use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Cefepime is excreted in small amounts in human milk; use with caution during lactation.
