Description
Overview of the medicine
Salbutamol 4 mg tablet is a fast-acting bronchodilator used to relieve symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) such as coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. It works by relaxing the muscles of the airways to improve breathing.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically 2 mg or 4 mg, 3 to 4 times a day, up to a maximum of 8 mg four times daily.
Elderly
Lower starting dose may be considered, e.g., 2 mg 3-4 times daily.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment may be necessary in severe renal impairment, monitor for side effects.
How to Take
Orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Mechanism of Action
Salbutamol selectively stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the smooth muscle of the bronchial tubes, causing bronchodilation by relaxing the smooth muscles and increasing cyclic AMP levels. This action helps to open the airways and ease breathing.
