Overview of the medicine
Ktx 20 mg Tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the relief of pain, inflammation, and fever.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Usually 20 mg once or twice daily, or as directed by physician. Do not exceed 40 mg daily.
Elderly
Lower doses may be required, closely monitor for adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution and at reduced doses in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment; contraindicated in severe renal impairment.
How to Take
Take Ktx 20 mg Tablet orally with food or milk to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
Ktx primarily inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever. By inhibiting their synthesis, Ktx reduces these symptoms.

Onset
30-60 minutes for analgesic effect.
Excretion
Mainly excreted in urine (approximately 60%) as metabolites, with a smaller portion in feces.
Half life
Approximately 2-4 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly and completely absorbed after oral administration, peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily hepatic, undergoing extensive metabolism via glucuronidation.
Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Lithium
Increased plasma lithium levels.
Methotrexate
Increased methotrexate toxicity.
ACE Inhibitors/ARBs
Increased risk of renal impairment, reduced antihypertensive effects.
Diuretics (e.g., Furosemide)
Reduced diuretic and antihypertensive effects.
Anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
Increased risk of bleeding.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Management involves supportive and symptomatic care. Gastric lavage and activated charcoal may be considered within an hour of ingestion. There is no specific antidote.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C (D in 3rd trimester). Avoid during the third trimester due to potential premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus. Use during lactation only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant. Consult a doctor.
