Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
600 mg intravenously or orally every 12 hours for 10 to 14 consecutive days.
Elderly
No dose adjustment is required.
Renal_impairment

How to Take
Shake the bottle well before each use. Administer orally with or without food. Use the provided measuring cup or syringe for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Linezolid inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing the formation of the 70S initiation complex.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Clinical effects typically observed within 2-4 days of initiation of therapy.
Excretion
Approximately 65% of the dose is excreted via renal and non-renal pathways as metabolites, and 30% as unchanged drug in urine.
Half life
Approximately 4-5 hours.
Absorption
Rapid and extensive absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, with absolute bioavailability of approximately 100%. Peak plasma concentrations occur within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily by oxidation of the morpholine ring, resulting in two inactive carboxylic acid metabolites.

Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Linezolid or any component of the formulation.
- •Concurrent use of MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine) or within 2 weeks of MAO inhibitor use due to risk of serotonin syndrome.
