Lizorex 400 mg Tablet contains Levofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically 400 mg once daily, depending on the infection type and severity.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless severe renal impairment is present.
Renal_impairment
Dosage adjustment necessary for creatinine clearance <50 mL/min. For CrCl 20-49 mL/min: 200 mg every 24 hours. For CrCl 10-19 mL/min: 100 mg every 24 hours.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Maintain adequate hydration.
Mechanism of Action
Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes involved in DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.

Primarily excreted unchanged in the urine.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones
- History of tendinitis or tendon rupture associated with fluoroquinolone use
- Epilepsy or other seizure disorders
Drug Interactions
Warfarin
May enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin, increasing the risk of bleeding. Monitor INR.
Corticosteroids
Increased risk of tendon rupture when co-administered with fluoroquinolones.
QT-prolonging drugs
Increased risk of QT interval prolongation and arrhythmias.
Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, sucralfate, iron supplements
Reduced absorption of levofloxacin. Administer levofloxacin at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after these agents.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms may include CNS effects (confusion, seizures), QT prolongation. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage and hydration may be helpful.
