Overview of the medicine
Lumona contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride, a third-generation antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
5 mg once daily, taken in the evening.
Elderly
Dose adjustment may be necessary in elderly patients with impaired renal function.
Renal_impairment
Reduced dosage for patients with mild, moderate, or severe renal impairment; contraindicated in end-stage renal disease.
How to Take
May be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Mechanism of Action
Levocetirizine, the R-enantiomer of cetirizine, is a potent and selective H1-receptor antagonist. It blocks the effects of histamine by competitively binding to peripheral H1-receptors, thereby reducing allergic symptoms.
