Macery 500 mg Tablet contains Macerycin, a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent used to treat various bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
500 mg once daily for 3-7 days, depending on infection type and severity.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless severe renal or hepatic impairment is present.
Renal_impairment
Mild to moderate (CrCl >30 mL/min): No dose adjustment. Severe (CrCl <30 mL/min): Consider dose reduction or extended dosing interval.
How to Take
Oral, with or without food. To minimize gastrointestinal upset, it may be taken with food.
Mechanism of Action
Macerycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing translocation of peptide chains.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Digoxin
Increased digoxin levels, requiring monitoring.
Warfarin
Increased anticoagulant effect, monitor INR closely.
Theophylline
Increased serum levels of theophylline, potentially leading to toxicity.
Ergot alkaloids (e.g., ergotamine)
Potentiates vasoconstriction, leading to ergotism.
Storage

Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and reversible hearing loss. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive; gastric lavage may be considered.
