Overview of the medicine
Moxigen 0.5% Eye Ointment is an ophthalmic antibiotic containing Moxifloxacin, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone, used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis and other superficial ocular bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a small amount (approximately 1.5 cm strip) into the conjunctival sac three times a day for 7 days.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment is necessary for elderly patients.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with renal impairment.
How to Take
For ophthalmic use only. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch, apply a small ribbon of ointment into the pouch. Close eye gently. Avoid touching the tip of the tube to the eye or any other surface.
Mechanism of Action
Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.
