Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
250-500 mg every 8 hours, depending on the severity of infection.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless renal function is impaired.
Renal_impairment
Dosage adjustment required. For creatinine clearance 10-20 mL/min: 250 mg every 12 hours. For creatinine clearance <10 mL/min: 250 mg every 24 hours.
How to Take
Navalexin capsules should be taken orally with water, preferably with food to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
Mechanism of Action
Navalexin interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to cell lysis and bacterial death. It is bactericidal.

Probenecid
Increases plasma concentration and prolongs the half-life of Navalexin.
Antacids/Iron Supplements
Reduced absorption if taken simultaneously. Administer Navalexin at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after these agents.
Oral Anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
May increase anticoagulant effect, requiring closer INR monitoring.
