Description
Overview of the medicine
Starin 40 mg Suspension is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and lower fever. It is typically prescribed for conditions such as arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, and dysmenorrhea.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual adult dose is 40-80 mg (5-10 ml) every 6-8 hours, not exceeding 320 mg (40 ml) in 24 hours. Always take with food or milk to minimize gastric upset.
Elderly
Lower doses may be required; monitor renal function closely. Consult a physician.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution and at reduced doses. Avoid in severe renal impairment. Consult a physician.
How to Take
Take orally with a full glass of water, preferably with food or milk to reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Shake the bottle well before each use. Use the provided measuring device for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Starin works by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, specifically COX-1 and COX-2. These enzymes are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever. By blocking prostaglandin production, Starin reduces these symptoms.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
30-60 minutes for analgesia, longer for anti-inflammatory effects.
Excretion
Excreted predominantly in the urine (60-80%) as metabolites and conjugates, with a small portion excreted in feces.
Half life
Approximately 2-4 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly and extensively absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract following oral administration. Peak plasma concentrations are reached within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 enzymes (e.g., CYP2C9).

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
