Overview of the medicine
Texit-400 mg Capsule is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
400 mg once daily for 7-14 days, depending on the infection severity.
Elderly
Same as adults, but dose adjustment may be necessary based on renal function.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment required based on creatinine clearance; consult physician.
How to Take
Administer orally with or without food. Do not chew or crush the capsule. Swallow whole with water.
Mechanism of Action
Texit inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Texit or other quinolones
- •History of tendinitis or tendon rupture associated with quinolone use
- •Children and adolescents (under 18 years)
- •Epilepsy or other seizure disorders
Drug Interactions
Warfarin
May enhance anticoagulant effects, monitor INR closely.
Theophylline
Increased risk of Theophylline toxicity due to reduced clearance.
Corticosteroids
Increased risk of tendinopathy, especially in elderly patients.
Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum
Reduces absorption of Texit. Take Texit at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after antacids.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, seizures, and prolonged QT interval. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, including gastric lavage and adequate hydration.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use only if potential benefit outweighs risk. Consult a doctor. Not recommended during breastfeeding as it may pass into breast milk.
