Dosage
Adults
Typical dose is 1-2 grams daily, given in divided doses every 12 hours intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM). In severe infections, doses up to 4 grams daily may be used.
Elderly
Standard adult dosage, but dose adjustment may be necessary based on renal function.
