Truso 200 mg Capsule contains Piracetam, a nootropic agent known to enhance cognitive function. It is primarily used for conditions associated with cognitive decline, memory impairment, and vertigo of central origin.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual daily dose is 2.4 g to 4.8 g, administered in 2-3 divided doses. This means 12-24 capsules of 200mg per day, or as directed by the physician.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment is required, but renal function should be monitored.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment is necessary. For mild impairment, half the usual dose. For severe impairment, not recommended.
How to Take
Truso 200 mg Capsule should be swallowed whole with water, with or without food. It is recommended to take at regular intervals as prescribed by the doctor.
Mechanism of Action
Piracetam is believed to work by improving the fluidity of neuronal membranes, enhancing neurotransmission (especially cholinergic and glutamatergic systems), and improving cerebral blood flow and oxygen utilization. It may also facilitate synaptic plasticity and protect neurons from hypoxic damage.

Not metabolized in the human body.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Piracetam or any excipients
- •Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 20 ml/min)
- •Cerebral hemorrhage
- •Huntington's chorea
Drug Interactions
Warfarin
Piracetam may potentiate the effect of anticoagulants like warfarin, potentially increasing bleeding risk. Close monitoring of INR is advised.
Thyroid hormones
Concomitant use with thyroid hormone extracts may cause confusion, irritability, and sleep disturbances.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In case of overdose, symptoms like increased side effects (e.g., nervousness, insomnia) may occur. Treatment is mainly supportive and symptomatic. Gastric lavage or induced emesis may be considered soon after ingestion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Piracetam is not recommended during pregnancy or lactation unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor.
