Overview of the medicine
Vifas 30 mg Suspension contains Fexofenadine Hydrochloride, a non-sedating antihistamine used for symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
60 mg (10 ml) twice daily or 120-180 mg once daily (for tablets, consult doctor for suspension dosage).
Elderly
No dose adjustment usually required unless renal impairment. If renal impairment, initial dose 30 mg (5 ml) once daily.

Initial dose 30 mg (5 ml) once daily.
How to Take
Oral suspension. Shake well before use. Can be taken with or without food. Avoid taking with fruit juice (e.g., grapefruit, orange, apple juice) as it may reduce bioavailability.
Mechanism of Action
Fexofenadine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. It blocks the histamine H1 receptors, thereby preventing the effects of histamine which include itching, sneezing, rhinorrhea, and watery eyes.

Within 1 hour.
Excretion
Primarily excreted unchanged in feces (80%) and urine (11%).
Half life
Approximately 11-15 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration. Peak plasma concentrations are reached in 1-3 hours.
Metabolism
Undergoes negligible metabolism (about 5%).

- Hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine or any component of the formulation.

Drug Interactions
Erythromycin/Ketoconazole
May increase Fexofenadine plasma concentrations.
Antacids (containing aluminum and magnesium)
May decrease Fexofenadine absorption. Separate administration by at least 2 hours.

Symptoms may include dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth. Management is symptomatic and supportive; no specific antidote.
