Take with or without food. For better absorption and to minimize gastrointestinal upset, it can be taken with food. Always complete the full course as prescribed by your doctor.

Azithromycin binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms and, thus, inhibits protein synthesis. This results in the inhibition of the bacteria's growth and reproduction.

• •Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, any macrolide or ketolide antibiotic, or any component of the formulation.
• •History of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction associated with prior azithromycin use.

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms of overdose include severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and reversible hearing loss. Management involves gastric lavage and general supportive measures as clinically indicated.

Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk; use with caution in nursing mothers.
