Overview of the medicine
Xadu 20 mg Tablet is used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and panic disorder. It helps to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 10 mg once daily, may be increased to 20 mg once daily after 1 week. Maximum dose 40 mg/day.
Elderly
Lower initial dose of 5 mg once daily, carefully titrated. Maximum recommended dose 20 mg/day.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment needed for mild to moderate impairment. Use with caution in severe impairment.
How to Take
Take orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
Xadolam, as an SSRI, selectively inhibits the reuptake of serotonin by neurons, thereby increasing the concentration of serotonin in the synaptic cleft. This leads to enhanced serotonergic neurotransmission.

Initial effects seen in 1-2 weeks; full therapeutic effect within 4-6 weeks.

Mainly excreted via urine (renal), with some fecal excretion.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Xadolam or any component of the formulation
- Concomitant use with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping an MAOI
Drug Interactions
MAOIs
Increased risk of serotonin syndrome. Concomitant use is contraindicated.
Warfarin
May increase the anticoagulant effect of warfarin, requiring INR monitoring.
Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs)
May increase plasma levels of TCAs.
Other Serotonergic Drugs (e.g., Triptans, Tramadol)
Increased risk of serotonin syndrome.
