Xofast 60 mg tablet is a non-sedating antihistamine used to relieve symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria: 60 mg twice daily or 180 mg once daily.

How to Take
Take orally with water, with or without food. Avoid taking with fruit juices (grapefruit, orange, apple).
Mechanism of Action
Fexofenadine acts as a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. It blocks the action of histamine, a substance produced by the body during an allergic reaction, thereby reducing allergy symptoms.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Onset of action typically occurs within 1 hour.
Excretion
Approximately 80% is excreted unchanged in feces and 11% in urine.
Half life
Mean elimination half-life is approximately 14.4 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations reached in about 1-3 hours.
Metabolism
Minimally metabolized; approximately 5% of the total dose is metabolized.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to fexofenadine or any of its excipients.
Drug Interactions
Erythromycin and Ketoconazole
May increase plasma concentrations of fexofenadine, though this generally does not result in a clinically significant increase in adverse events.
Aluminum and Magnesium containing Antacids
May reduce the bioavailability of fexofenadine. Separate administration by approximately 2 hours.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth. Management should be symptomatic and supportive, including gastric lavage or activated charcoal if appropriate.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Fexofenadine is excreted in human breast milk; use with caution in nursing mothers.
