Cerox-A

Take orally with food for optimum absorption. Do not crush the tablet; swallow whole.

It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial cell lysis and death.

• Known hypersensitivity to cefuroxime axetil, any other cephalosporin antibiotic, or to any of the excipients.
• History of severe hypersensitivity reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis) to any other type of beta-lactam antibacterial agent (e.g., penicillins, carbapenems, monobactams).

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Overdosage with cefuroxime may lead to neurological sequelae including encephalopathy, convulsions, and coma. Management is supportive; hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis may be considered to reduce serum concentrations.

Pregnancy Category B. Studies in animals have shown no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus. Cefuroxime is excreted in small amounts in breast milk; caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing mother. Consult a doctor.
