Overview of the medicine
Maprocin suspension contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Usually 500 mg once on the first day, then 250 mg once daily for 4 days, or as directed.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment needed unless severe renal or hepatic impairment is present.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment necessary for mild to moderate renal impairment; use with caution in severe impairment.
How to Take
For oral use. Shake the bottle well before use. Use the provided measuring device to ensure accurate dosing. Can be taken with or without food.
Mechanism of Action
Azithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby interfering with the translation of mRNA and ultimately inhibiting bacterial growth.
