Maprocin 750 mg Tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, inflammation, and fever. It is effective in treating various rheumatic conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, and dysmenorrhea.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically 750 mg to 1500 mg daily, divided into two doses. For acute pain or gout, an initial dose of 750 mg, followed by 250 mg every 8 hours as needed.
Elderly
Should start with a lower dose and use with caution due to increased risk of adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
Dosage reduction or avoidance may be necessary in patients with impaired renal function.
How to Take
Take orally with food or milk to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Swallow the whole tablet with water; do not chew or crush it.
Mechanism of Action
Maprocin works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which reduces prostaglandin synthesis. Prostaglandins are responsible for causing pain, inflammation, and fever. By decreasing prostaglandins, it effectively alleviates these symptoms.
