Nixon 250 mg Injection contains Nixicillin, a broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
250 mg to 1 g every 8-12 hours, depending on infection severity.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless renal impairment is present.
Renal_impairment
Dose reduction necessary for creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min.
How to Take
For intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) administration. For IV, administer slowly over 30-60 minutes.
Mechanism of Action
Nixicillin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and bacterial death. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the bacterial cell membrane.
