Description
Overview of the medicine
Purisal 0.31 mg Respirator Solution is a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist indicated for the relief of bronchospasm in conditions like asthma and COPD. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the airways, making breathing easier.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
0.31 mg by nebulization, 3-4 times daily as needed.
Elderly
Same as adult dose, but monitor for side effects.
Renal_impairment
No specific dose adjustment required, but use with caution.
How to Take
For oral inhalation only via a suitable nebulizer. The solution should not be swallowed. Patients should be instructed on the proper use and maintenance of the nebulizer.
Mechanism of Action
Purisal selectively stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle, leading to relaxation of these muscles, bronchodilation, and improved airflow. This action is mediated by an increase in intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
5-15 minutes
Excretion
Excreted primarily via the kidneys (urine) as metabolites and unchanged drug.
Half life
3-6 hours
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed from the respiratory tract after inhalation.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver to inactive metabolites.
Side Effects

May potentiate the vascular effects of Purisal, increasing the risk of cardiovascular side effects.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
