Overview of the medicine
Ritch 180 mg Tablet contains Fexofenadine Hydrochloride, a non-sedating antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
180 mg orally once daily.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment is generally required in elderly patients, unless renal impairment is present.
Renal_impairment
For patients with impaired renal function (creatinine clearance < 80 mL/min), a starting dose of 60 mg once daily is recommended. Consult your doctor for specific instructions.
How to Take
Take Ritch tablet orally with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not take with fruit juices (e.g., grapefruit, orange, apple) as they may reduce absorption. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
Fexofenadine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. It inhibits histamine release and reduces allergic reactions by blocking the binding of histamine to H1 receptors.

Onset
Within 1 hour (for relief of symptoms), maximal effect within 2-3 hours.
Excretion
Primarily excreted unchanged in feces (approximately 80%) and urine (approximately 11%).
Half life
Approximately 14-15 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration; peak plasma concentrations reached in 1-3 hours.
Metabolism
Minimal hepatic metabolism (approximately 5% of total dose).
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to fexofenadine or any component of the formulation.
Drug Interactions
Erythromycin or Ketoconazole
May increase fexofenadine plasma concentrations (although this is generally not clinically significant).
Antacids (containing aluminum and magnesium)
May reduce the absorption of fexofenadine. Separate administration by approximately 2 hours.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In case of overdose, symptoms like dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth may occur. Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive, including general supportive measures to remove unabsorbed drug and provide clinical monitoring.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Use only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus. Fexofenadine is excreted in human breast milk; caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman. Consult your doctor.
