Rovantin 20 mg Pediatric Drop is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, and chronic idiopathic urticaria in pediatric patients. It works by blocking histamine, a natural substance that the body produces during an allergic reaction.

Dosage

Children_1_to_5_years
0.5 mL (10 mg) once daily
Children_6_to_12_years
0.5 mL (10 mg) to 1 mL (20 mg) once daily, based on severity
Infants_6_to_12_months
0.25 mL (5 mg) once daily
How to Take
Administer orally using the calibrated dropper provided. Shake the bottle well before each use. Can be taken with or without food.
Mechanism of Action
Rovantin selectively antagonizes peripheral H1-histamine receptors, thereby inhibiting the effects of histamine and reducing allergic symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and skin rashes. It has low affinity for central H1 receptors, resulting in minimal sedative effects.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Ritonavir
May increase plasma concentrations of Rovantin.
Central Nervous System Depressants
Concurrent use may increase CNS depression (e.g., drowsiness).
Storage
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, agitation, or tachycardia. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage may be considered soon after ingestion.
