Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults

Renal_impairment
Dosage should be reduced in patients with significant renal impairment (CrCl < 50 mL/min). Consult a physician for specific dosing.
How to Take
Administer orally. Can be taken with or without food. For best absorption, it is often recommended to take it an hour before or two hours after meals, but food does not significantly impact total absorption.
Mechanism of Action
Cefraidine is a bactericidal antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).

Excretion
Primarily excreted by the kidneys via glomerular filtration and tubular secretion.
Half life
Approximately 0.7-1.2 hours in adults with normal renal function.
Absorption
Rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Food may delay absorption but does not affect total amount absorbed.
Metabolism
Minimally metabolized; primarily excreted unchanged.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Known hypersensitivity to Cefraidine or other cephalosporin antibiotics
- •History of severe hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin (cross-reactivity risk)
Drug Interactions
Probenecid
May increase and prolong Cefraidine serum levels.
Oral anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
May enhance anticoagulant effect; monitor INR.
Nephrotoxic drugs (e.g., Aminoglycosides, Loop diuretics)
Concurrent use may increase risk of renal toxicity.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
