T-Cef 100 mg Suspension is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Adults and children over 10 years or weighing more than 50 kg: 200 mg once daily or 100 mg twice daily. For severe infections or gonorrhea, 400 mg once daily.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless there is severe renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Creatinine clearance 21-60 ml/min: 75% of standard dose. Creatinine clearance <20 ml/min: 50% of standard dose.
How to Take
Administer orally with or without food. Shake the bottle well before each use. Use the provided measuring device for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Cefixime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell lysis and death.

Rapid, typically within 1-2 hours of administration.
Excretion
Primarily excreted unchanged in the urine (about 50-60%) and via biliary/fecal routes.

About 3 to 4 hours.
Absorption

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Nifedipine
May increase cefixime peak levels and AUC.
Carbamazepine
May increase carbamazepine levels; monitor drug levels.
Aminoglycosides
Increased risk of nephrotoxicity (though less common with cefixime).
Oral Anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
May increase prothrombin time; monitor INR closely.
Storage
Store the dry powder below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep the reconstituted suspension in the refrigerator (2-8°C) and discard any unused portion after the specified period.
Overdose
In case of overdose, gastric lavage may be indicated. There is no specific antidote. Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed. Cefixime is excreted in small amounts in breast milk; use with caution during lactation.
