Jasocaine works by blocking the nerve signals in the body. It temporarily numbs the skin and surrounding tissues by inhibiting the influx of sodium ions across the nerve membrane, thereby preventing the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses.

Overdose from topical Jasocaine gel is rare but may manifest as localized irritation, redness, or burning. Systemic toxicity is highly unlikely with proper use of a 2% topical formulation but could include CNS (drowsiness, dizziness, tremors) or cardiovascular effects (bradycardia, hypotension) if extensive absorption occurs.

Generally considered safe for topical use during pregnancy and lactation due to minimal systemic absorption. However, consult a physician before use, especially if applying to large areas or for prolonged periods.
