Dosage
Adults
Schizophrenia: Initial 40 mg once daily, max 160 mg/day. Bipolar Depression: Initial 20 mg once daily, max 120 mg/day. Always taken with food (at least 350 calories).
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment but use with caution due to increased sensitivity.

Moderate to severe (CrCl < 50 mL/min): Max 80 mg/day for schizophrenia, max 60 mg/day for bipolar depression. How to Take

Mechanism of Action
Lurasidone is believed to exert its therapeutic effect through antagonism at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. It also has affinity for serotonin 5-HT7, 5-HT1A, and α2C-adrenergic receptors.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Neonates exposed to antipsychotics during the third trimester are at risk for extrapyramidal and/or withdrawal symptoms. Excreted in breast milk; decision to discontinue nursing or the drug should be made considering the importance of the drug to the mother.
